The UK Government has launched a consultation on the principle of forming a single body from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). The consultation will run for 12 weeks from March 2026 and invites views from industry stakeholders on the proposal.
The consultation seeks to explore the benefits and challenges of combining the two organisations into a single entity, with the aim of streamlining training governance, improving efficiency, and supporting workforce development across the construction and engineering sectors.
The consultation represents an opportunity for businesses, industry bodies, and other stakeholders to provide feedback on how a single body could operate, its potential structure, and the impacts on training provision and skills development.
