NFDC & NDTG joined hundreds of demolition engineer delegates at the IDE Spring Seminar on Friday 25th February at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. Whilst always an insightful programme of quality speakers covering interesting topics worthy of CPD points, this particular event was made extra special by the inclusion of a Graduation Ceremony for the latest cohort of Foundation Degree students.
It is no mean feat to take on a Foundation Degree in Demolition Management. The commitment of time and energy to study alongside a demanding day job is commendable and the achievement of these individuals should not be overlooked. As an industry we should be proud of those who are taking the professionalism and expertise in demolition to the next level with this Further Education qualification. From all of us within NFDC, we applaud you, congratulations to the class of 2022.
NFDC’s own Howard Button shared NFDC’s Five Areas of Focus in his ‘Demolition Alliance’ presentation, highlighting the common goals between the Federation and the Institute whilst sharing the latest updates and deliverables from NFDC. Also featuring on the programme were fascinating case studies from the industrial fire at Leeson’s Polyurethanes and the Guinness World Record making demolition of Mina Plaza Towers, Dubai, alongside hot topics including steel re-use in construction, health and safety and explosive techniques.
An enjoyable and educational day delivered by the IDE, look forward to seeing you in the Autumn for the next instalment.
