NFDC CEO Howard Button attended the Wood Recycler’s Association (WRA) AGM last week, catching up on important updates for the demolition industry.
Guest speakers included ex Rally Championship Driver Penny Mallory discussing mental toughness, Dan Cooke of CIWM on the Waste Industry’s journey towards net zero and Georgina Collins and Steve Molyneux of EA discussing the regulatory landscape.
Attendees were reminded of the necessity of providing wood waste samples, helping to prevent the expensive reclassification of wood as hazardous, which could stand to have a detrimental impact on the pockets of contractors.
Further updates included the start of a digital waste tracking consultation period, with NFDC looking for assistance from members who may have involvement in the development of the new and improved waste transfer note system.
Online and face-to-face workshops were announced, with members encouraged to attend and understand how to ‘Make Waste Wood Classification Easy’. The free to attend workshops will be running throughout August and September, explaining how to potentially save your business money.
