NFDC members once again demonstrated their unwavering dedication to giving back during the Spring 2025 regional meetings. Across the UK, members came together to support inspiring charities doing exceptional work in their communities. These contributions reflect the Federation’s ongoing commitment to making a difference where it matters most.
In London & Southern Counties, members contributed an incredible £2,000 to support a courageous young boy and the cause established in his name:
- Tommy Crush Foundation and Hudson the Superhero were the joint focus of this heartfelt donation.
The Tommy Crush Foundation supports young people with their mental health, in memory of Tommy Crush, who tragically lost his life at just 17. The foundation funds counselling services and raises awareness to help prevent suicide among young people.
Hudson the Superhero is a fundraising campaign run through Just4Children, helping seven-year-old Hudson from Orpington, Kent, who has cerebral palsy. After undergoing life-changing SDR surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2020, Hudson now requires ongoing specialist treatment and equipment not available through the NHS. This includes intensive physiotherapy, adapted footwear, and custom splints all essential for his continued progress.
Scotland & Northern Ireland:
Members in the Scotland & Northern Ireland region chose to support a long-standing community organisation with a significant local impact:
- Beeston Cancer Charity received a donation of £500.
Based in the heart of the community, Beeston Cancer Charity provides direct financial support to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, helping with everything from travel expenses to everyday costs that can become overwhelming during illness. Their work eases the burden on families and ensures no one faces cancer alone.
North East:
In the North East, members directed their support toward a foundation built on a legacy of kindness and community:
- Members in the North East generously donated £1,000 to the Charlie Duignan Foundation, honouring the legacy of an extraordinary young boy from Exmouth.
Charlie was a joyful, kind-hearted child who loved art, sports, and the beach. In 2022, just before his 7th birthday, he was diagnosed with a grade 4 medulloblastoma brain tumour. Despite enduring major treatment and briefly going into remission, Charlie sadly passed away in early 2024 at the age of eight. The foundation was set up to celebrate Charlie’s life and passions, with its flagship project—a beach school—designed to inspire environmental awareness and community learning. This donation will help bring that vision to life, benefiting children and families in Exmouth and beyond.
These donations exemplify the compassion and generosity that define the NFDC community. By supporting such meaningful causes, our members continue to build a legacy of care, empathy, and social responsibility. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed this season.
