The NFDC AGM & Awards 2025 brought members together for a day of industry updates, progress, and celebration at the Royal Lancaster, London. The morning’s 84th Annual General Meeting covered key developments, including financial growth, training initiatives, and regulatory updates.
As the evening unfolded, the Awards Ceremony honoured outstanding achievements in demolition, with a special address from guest speaker Matt Le Tissier. From insightful discussions to well-deserved recognitions, the event showcased the strength, resilience, and excellence of our industry.
NFDC’s 84th Annual General Meeting
President’s Report – John Lynch
- Successful relocation: NFDC moved from its previous offices to new premises at Mark Road, a key milestone for the Federation.
- Membership Update: NFDC now represents 132 Corporate Members and 104 ISP Members, maintaining its strong industry presence.

Annual Accounts of the Federation-Lesley Ransome
- Relayed the annual account of the federation which are available for members to read upon emailing Lesley Ransome. A remarkable £203,000 was raised across 36 charities, showcasing the generosity and community commitment of NFDC members.

CEO’s Report – Duncan Rudall
- Provided crucial updates on demolition training, including changes to the CSCS card system, which will now be reduced to a two-year non-renewable card, and ongoing work on competency schemes in partnership with industry bodies.
- Collaboration with the European Demolition Association continues, ensuring NFDC remains at the forefront of global demolition standards.

Marketing Report – Silvia Navarro
NFDC recapped PR, events, publications, detailing how the marketing department are raising the profile for members while building excitement for another event in the demolition calendar, the NFDC Convention.

Guest Speaker – Jan Andresen (Health & Safety Executive)
Delivered a session on mental health and trauma in demolition, emphasising the need for resilience training and support tools such as the new Talking Toolkit.

Guest Speaker – Graham Watts (Construction Industry Council)
Discussed the government’s response to the Grenfell Inquiry, highlighting proposed reforms, including:
- A single construction regulator
- Reintroducing a Chief Construction Advisor
- Reviewing high-risk building definitions
- Licensing contractors for high-risk demolition work

Guest Speaker – Adrian McLean (Institute of Demolition Engineers)
- Celebrated IDE’s 49-year history and its continued contribution to demolition engineering. IDE is now preparing for its 50th-anniversary gala dinner in September 2025 and working to reintroduce the foundation degree and Masters program with Wolverhampton University.

Guest Speaker Matt Le Tissier
A memorable highlight of the evening was our guest speaker, Matt Le Tissier. The former Southampton FC legend brought his trademark irreverent humour and charming personality to the stage, regaling us with hilarious anecdotes from his football career and life in the spotlight. His stories left the audience in stitches and added a unique touch to an already special occasion.

Raising Funds for a Worthy Cause
In the spirit of giving, we were also able to make a significant contribution to Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac), the charity chosen by John Lynch for the Golden Envelope Charity Raffle. Through the generosity of our guests, we were able to raise an incredible £12,000 for this vital cause—an achievement that reflects the kindness and generosity of the demolition community.
