The European Demolition Association, EDA, has new members of the Club of Honor: Mr. William Sinclair and Mr. Jan Bork.
Mr. William Sinclair is the Managing Director of the company member of SAFEDEM and one of the most representative members of EDA.
As a Fourth-Generation member of a family that has been actively involved in the Demolition Industry over the past century, he literally grew up in the industry and grew up in the EDA.
His Father, Mr. David Sinclair is a Past President of the EDA, and he remember attending EDA Conventions as a teenager in the 1980’s.
In 2016, in his hometown, Glasgow, he become president of the association after his predecessor, Ms. Pilar de la Cruz, named him.
Since then, Mr. William Sinclair has represented EDA in several international events and has worked in order to defend the interest of the association in Europe and all around the world.
For this reason, the first action of Mr. Francisco Cobo as new president of EDA was to announce him as a member of the Club of Honor.
However, before leaving office, Mr. William Sinclair named Mr. Jan Bork new member of the Club of Honor.
Mr. Jan Bork is the owner and general manager of Bork Demolition Projects company. Together with his brother Roelof, Jan run the company. They reflect the third generation of the company. Bork Sloopwerken (“Bork Demolition projects”) is situated in the North of the Netherlands and is founded in 1946 by their grandfather Jan Bork.
The company developed and flourished to 110 employees nowadays. Since Jan was a little boy he helped his father and grandfather building the company up. It is one of the biggest demolition contractors into the Netherlands today.
Mr. Bork has been involved with the foundation of one of the predecessors of VERAS, the Association of Demolition contractors who merged in 2009 into the new association VERAS. Since 1997 Jan was a member of the Board of the former demolition association. Later on, he became chairman of VERAS in 2010. Jan hold that position until 2017 when Mr. Kees de Groot succeeded Mr. Jan Bork.
In that time, VERAS became immediately member of EDA. Jan was as chairman of VERAS head of the Dutch delegation on the EDA Conventions.
