The Regional AGM for NFDC’s North West Members took place at the Hallmark Hotel, Warrington on 17th January 2019 and was the last meeting chaired by Charmaine O’Connor, of P.P. O’Connor Demolition, who passed the baton over to Ryan Noon, Contracts Manager of Stott Demolition.
Attended by 60+ Corporate and Industry Service Provider Members, special guests from Fortress Shears, USA and Charity beneficiary Francis House, it was a full house with standing room only at the back, representing the great respect, recognition and thanks that the North West region has for Charmaine’s hard work, efforts and considerable successes during her 2 and half year term as Regional Chair.
With an incredible £150,000 raised for Charitable organisations during Charmaine’s term, it was an honour to see Rachel Astill, representing Francis House Children’s Hospice, receive an enormous cheque for £75,000 at the AGM.
Following the presentation of the cheque by Charmaine O’Connor, NFDC Acting President David Keane and new Regional Chair Ryan Noon, Rachel spoke of her awe and appreciation to NFDC North West Members for their generosity in this significant donation that will make so much difference in the work they do to support and enrich the too short lives of terminally ill children.
It was pleasing to hear Bruce Bacon, special guest from Fortress Shears who travelled all the way from Minnesota, USA to join the event, talk of his experiences of the NFDC Community at the recent Annual Convention.
Bruce described the warmth, openness and welcome he had received from the NFDC Members and shared some words he’d noted during his time with NFDC like friendship, respect, humility, pride and kindness – highlighting the positive impression NFDC Members give and the values that join us together, even during challenging times.
In her Regional Chair report, Charmaine spoke of the Region’s achievements and her personal goals during the term. She thanked the Region for their backing and pledged her support to the new chair Ryan Noon.
As the meeting closed, Regional Members presented Charmaine with a beautiful gift to recognise and thank her for her significant time, commitment and positive contributions to NFDC and the North West Region.
A stunning bouquet and crystal vase, engraved with the NFDC logo and the message ‘To Charmaine O’Connor – in recognition of your dedication and hard work on behalf of the Members of the North West region of NFDC’ left Charmaine overwhelmed by the thoughtful gesture.
