President Message and Weekly Round-Up

Dear Members,

As we all come to the end of a second week of managing life in a national crisis, it strikes me how resilient we are, as humans, and as demolition professionals. Whilst I know some of our Members have elected to close their sites and others remain operational, albeit with new and difficult safety measures under constant monitoring, having talked with many of you I am immensely proud of how we are making decisions and handling ourselves during this period of massive disruption.

Working with other key industry bodies, NFDC continues the fight for clarity of guidance to the construction sector and for the much-needed support measures we need to continue working in the face of adversity. We are doing our level best to keep you informed of the main news updates, whilst not bombarding your mailboxes with duplicate news on a daily basis.

Whilst concern for the health of our families and the survival of our businesses dominates our headspace, I am also blown away by how fellow NFDC members are still thinking of others and doing all they can to support those in a worst position than ourselves. Thank you all, on behalf of NFDC, for everything you are doing – whether this is getting PPE to our amazing NHS, offering practical help in your communities or helping to bolster the suffering charity sector.

This message provides you with a new resource to help take care of your mental health – please share these resources with your employees and your families – along with a round-up of the most recent updates and NFDC business resources available to you.

Take good care of yourselves and my virtual door remains open – let’s do our best to stay connected and support each other in these uncertain and frightening times.

It would help NFDC if we could gain a clear and current picture of the state of the demolition industry at this time. Would you complete a very quick poll to tell us whether your sites are open or closed? It will take no more than 2 minutes of your time. Thank you 🙂

Yours, Holly
Holly Price, NFDC President
