East Midlands Demolition employee awarded prestigious "Demolition Site Supervisor of the Year" title

East Midlands Demolition is celebrating today after one of its employees secured the “Demolition Site Supervisor of the Year” title at the prestigious 2017 National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) awards.

Martin Riley fought off fierce competition from over 30 other nominees to clinch the coveted honour at this year’s awards ceremony, which is organised annually by the NFDC, in conjunction with the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG), to recognise and honour excellence within the industry.

Martin, who has worked in the sector for over 27 years, was nominated for the award by East Midlands Demolition managing director, Winn Jones:

“Martin has been working for East Midlands Demolition for over 13 years and over that time has proved himself to be an invaluable member of staff.  He has a talent for seeing a project in its entirety, from start to finish, and planning the process in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.  This competence means I have no qualms in leaving Martin on any site, safe in the knowledge that the job will get done – and done well.

“It is because of this experience, together with his strong work ethic and ability to communicate clearly with customers on all levels, that I nominated him for this award,” concludes Winn.

Peter Siddall, owner of East Midlands Demolition, agrees: “We are all extremely proud of Martin and his achievements, and this award is definitely well deserved.  It is a very exciting time for East Midlands Demolition, as the company continues to go from strength-to-strength, and we are glad that Martin is part of our team.”

Martin Riley concludes: “It was a complete surprise to win this award, as the competition gets tougher year on year.  However, this is simply a reflection of the increasingly high standards within the sector and demonstrates the pride we all take in our work.

“It is incredible for me, and for East Midlands Demolition, to be recognised by the NFDC and NDTG for our dedication to the industry and our continued hard work,” adds Martin.

As corporate members of the NFDC, East Midlands Demolition attends quarterly regional meetings to help it remain at the forefront of industry developments.  It’s membership also means it is subject to annual audits by the NFDC, whereby a typical demolition site is selected and an auditor arrives unannounced to carry out the rigorous task, from checking site signage, method statements, risk assessments, policies, procedures, and training, to full plant inspections.  Everything is examined thoroughly to ensure compliance with the NFDC membership requirements.

East Midlands Demolition works closely with the NFDC and the National Demolition Training Group, and prides itself on providing continual development opportunities for its operatives, helping them to stay safe in every situation.
