A reported near miss incident concerning a Manifold Cylinder Pallet (MCP) or more commonly know as a ‘bottle bank’ has been reported to the NFDC.
The Integrated lifting point of the MCP failed whilst the pack was being moved on site. Whilst fortunately there were no injuries in this instance, the potential for injury cannot be ignored.
The NFDC recommend that the MCP integrated lifting point must NOT be used unless it has been thoroughly inspected and certificated in accordance with PUWER (Regulation 6).
The user has an ongoing responsibility under the CDM regulations to check the lifting points on site to ensure they are safe and conform to PUWER regulations.
