Prosafe’s Danny Kearney Tops Three Peaks for Charity

During what has been one of the hottest English Summers on record, NDTG approved trainer, Danny Kearney of Prosafe Consultants completed what could be considered the UK’s toughest hiking Challenge.

The Three Peaks begins with an early start in Scotland, trekking up Ben Nevis as part of a gruelling 24-hour challenge covering 23 miles and a total ascent of 3064 metres.

Following Ben Nevis, Danny and co travelled by minibus in a 6 hour slog to the Lake District, with short stop to re-fuel and re hydrate before moving on to conquer Scafel Pike in the early evening. The team encountered injuries upon ascent, however pushed towards summit within the daylight hours.

As 11pm crept upon the team, it was time to begin a 4-hour drive to Wales, and the final peak of the challenge. Arriving at 3.45am, the team were feeling worse for wear, with collectively sore and stiff legs.

After a session of stretches the team were ready to go, just in time for the sun to begin creeping up.

With time running out for completion within the 24-hours, Danny and co. had a final push, completing the final 2.5 miles of Snowden to finish with just 8 minutes to spare!

In completing their 24 hour challenge, Danny Kearney and team were able to collectively raise £5.5k for their chosen Charities – Cure Leukaemia and Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity.

The NFDC were able to sponsor £500 for Danny, and would like to offer our congratulations on completing such a difficult challenge for 2 very worthwhile Charities.
